Understanding and mitigating male mouse aggression (2025)

Baker, T., Ostman, S., Edwaldsson, B. et al.

Abstract

We formed a global working group to identify the triggers of aggression e.g. behaviours seen prior to fighting occurring and have identified strategies to mitigate these triggers. We have also identified the signs of a harmonious cage, how to identify when aggression is occurring and when/how to intervene. Understanding what triggers aggression and the more subtle signs of aggression has allowed us to act before animals need to be euthanised.
