A survey of UK research facilities. The second most common type of improvement sought was environmental enrichment. ... The most common response [for rodents] was that various types of cage furniture were used. Cardboard residences, tunnels, tubes, wooden blooks... The most frequent approach [for dogs] was social contact with humans or with other dogs. .. Exercies was also given as a method of environmental enrichment. .. About half of those reporting on .. rabbits mentiones social contact through open or floor housing as a method of environimental enrichment.
