Abstract

We designed a cage addition (baboon suite) that provided the additional square footage needed to meet requirements, was appreciably cheaper than the cost of a new cage, could be attached to the front of the existing cages with minimal cage adaptation, used the existing cage-squeeze mechanism and increased the complexity of the cage environment for the benefit of animals. ... Baboons fully used the additional space and seemed to spend more time in the addition than in the cage.
