Report of the 1999 RSPCA/UFAW rodent welfare group meeting (1999)
Hawkins, P., Reid, R., Nevison, C. et al.
Abstract
The following contributions are included in this database: - Practical rodent enrichment (Leach, Ambrose, Morton), - Environmental enrichment in a neurosurgical environment: the importance of licensee and technician communication ( Higgins, Eagle), - Improvements in transgenic animal husbandry and welfare: provision of exercise wheels for group housed mice (Redrobe), - Environmental stimulation for rodents on toxicology studies (Robertson). Current UK legislation says that enrichment should be provided 'as appropriate', but this could be interpreted as anything from a handful of sawdust to more complex cage additions.
