Abstract

General recommendations for the avoidance of distress responses during the administration of substances. Where substances are administered infrequently but on a long-term basis handling the animals during routine daily husbandry will help reduce stress when subsequently dosing them. In general, staff should be encouraged to handle animals as much as possible.
