Abstract

Our solution was to wrap the food up in sheets of used A4 paper. This meant that the primates had to unwrap and strip the paper from the food. .. Also, we used scrap paper, the enrichment costs nothing but our time. .. The only drawback we found with this enrichment technique is that it increases cleaning time. However, the chimpanzees were observed to perform their own recycling programme, when they made nests from the paper.
