Potential animal hazard with ring toys (1993)

Abstract

Recently one animal, a 2-year-old pigtail macaque (Macaca nemestrina), approximate weight 3.1 kg, became trappedinside a Nylaring. The ring went around the neck, across the body, and under one arm. Since the animal was apparentlyunable to remove the ring, he was anesthetized and the ring manually removed. The animal was placed back in the cagewith a different toy.
