Abstract

With compassion and patience, stress and distress reactions can usually be avoided, and the pigs' welfare thereby enhanced. I have been very fortunate to work with pigs for the last twenty two years in the same facility. It has been very rewarding to see and participate in the many positive improvements in their handling and care throughout these years.
