Pigeon housing: practical considerations and welfare implications (1999)

Nepote, K.

Abstract

If pigeons must be housed in cages for scientific or veterinary reasons, modified rabbit cages with shelving, perches and toys may provide relatively adequate quarters. Pigeons should have access to flight rooms with perches for exercise and social interaction. Groups have to be carefully monitored to ensure that subordinate birds are not bullied.
