Abstract
Refinement in cage design are described that improve personnelsafety and routine husbandry procedures. It is difficult to observe animals in the bottom cages due to insufficient lighting. Flashlights can increase visualization in this situation. New cage specifications are designed to admit light through a bar opening in the upper half of the rear cages.
