Hormonal response to restraint in rhesus monkeys (1996)

Gauquelin-Koch, G., Blanquie, J.-P., Florence, G. et al.

Abstract

These experiments indicate clearly that placement in a restraining chair represents a stimulus of different systems in monkeys. The responses observed in the present study are predominantly psychoendocrine responses to unconditioned emotional stimuli associated with the chair-restraint situation, despite the fact that they were acclimated to this system. ....These findings are similar to those found in man during isolation inactivity and during confinement stress.
