Feeding motivation and stereotypies in pregnant sows fed increasing levels of fibre and/or food (2000)

Abstract
No reduction in feeding motivation of sows fed high-fibre diets could be measured by operant conditioning tests, but very high levels of fibre (very high-fibre, 29% ADF, 50% NDF, 4.5 kg/day) were effective in reducing stereotypic behaviors and general activity during the first two hours after feeding. However, these effects were not as marked as those observed with ad libitum feeding.
