Feeding enrichment for red-handed tamarins (2002)

Taylor, T. D.

Abstract

Access to a 'feeding basket' [stuffed with straw mixed with their normal feed and hung from a perch] and suspended sticks smeared with acacia gum increased feeding activities while reducing the incidence of stereotypy [primarily somersaulting], hyperactivity, coprophagy and excessive grooming and scent marking in a 3-adult-member group. It is notable that the devices were still used when additional food was freely available.
