Abstract

Pigs were housed in pens containing eight animals each. The duration of basic behaviors .. were not significantly altered by the addition of environmental enrichment devices [two chains and two rubber hose devices hanging from above] or the incorporation of frequent human handling, nor were they effective in preventing or stopping various deviant social behaviors. Generally, the rubber hose device was preferred of the chain.
