Environmental enrichment in captive primates: A survey and review (1997)

Dickie, L. A.

Abstract

Environmental enrichment programs of selected British zoos and case studies of five zoos in Europe are surveyed. Enrichment in primates was shown overall to have a strong bias towards the great apes and terrestrial/semi-terrestrial species in general. .... The lives of captive primates everywhere could be enhanced by developing programmes by which keepers could gain greater access to published information and freedom to use this in their daily work, particularly in the care of arboreal primates.
