Abstract

Growing the plants was problematic and costly, and did not appear to make a clear and interpretable difference in the behavior of the monkeys. .. A more substantial benefit from the vertical mesh was that a part of the cage that is normally inaccessible to the monkeys, namely the bare smooth walls, was now accessible and was used, on average, 10% of the day.
