Abstract

A variety of foraging and inanimate enrichment devices are described and two of them tested. The foraging experiment [using a Foraging Tree constructed of PCV tubes] resulted in a much more natural way of searching for food. ... Although the grooming experiment [using Ping-Pong balls filled with chinchilla dust and treated on nylon rope] did not show much of an increase in grooming behavior overall, it did show that grooming behavior could be enhanced.
