Employing innate behaviors of laboratory swine (2000)
Vogelaar, J. L.
Abstract
Very valuable, practicable suggestions are made to facilitate low- or no-stress handling of pigs in the research lab. Basic understanding of pig behavior leads to a comfortable awareness of efficient and productive handling of the animals. All animal handlers and technicians should be taught the innate behaviors of the animals with whom they work, and how to use these behaviors to the advantage of the research objectives.
