Abstract

Basic rules for the adequate housing and handling of dogs in the research laboratory setting are outlined. Exercise outside the cage is necessary at least once a day and of not less than 30 minutes total duration.... Housing of dogs in groups in large pens connected with an outdoor run is recommended. ... Dogs should become accustomed to human beings at between 4 and 10 weeks of age.
