Access to the puzzles was accompanied by increase in social interaction and activity and decrease in stereotypic behaviour. This behavioural profile was also observed, to a lesser extent, in animals exposed to the 'gum tree'. ... Novel objects alone [toys] failed to significantly alter behaviour. Stereotypy was classified as undesirable behaviour .
