Comfortable quarters for sheep in research institutions (2002)
Reinhardt, V. , Reinhardt, A.
Abstract
Practical guidelines for the species-adequate housing of sheep in research facilities. Sheep are probably the most apprehensive animals used in research. They require excellent professional care - including regular monitoring of their behavior - to address stress reactions to the inherently fear-provoking environment of the laboratory. If these stress reactions are not ameliorated or buffered, any research with sheep is questionable because the results are likely to be influenced by an important, yet uncontrolled variable.
