Comfortable quarters for rabbits in research institutions (2002)

Boers, K., Gray, G., Love, J. et al.

Abstract

Practical recommendations for the species-adequate housing and handling of rabbits. The most suitable quarters for rabbits allow for social interaction and provide physical substrate for digging, playing and hiding. The gentle touch provided by the technicians is as important as the physical environment in giving the rabbits a sense of security in the presence of humans who, in other circumstances may subject them to uncomfortable, perhaps even painful procedures [p.47].
