Captive Primate Working Party Report (1985)

Poole, T. B.

Abstract

It is felt that different cages should be recommended for different species based on their degree of arboreality and the social groupings which were practicable in the laboratory. Weight of animal alone is not an adequate criterion on which to base cage size. Age is also important because younger animals are usually more playful and active. When providing perches or shelves for a monkey, some thought should be given to its anatomy and normal sitting postures.
