Abstract

This review is designed to give basic information on the correct maintenance of snakes in research colonies. In particular, it should be helpful to researchers and animal technicians that have not had much experience with snakes. ... Refuges are critical for species that are nervous or reluctant to eat. ... Rocks and other supports such as branches are helpful for some species of snakes and also help most snakes shed. Although these items may increase cleaning time, the decrease in stress to the snakes is likely to be worth it.
