Abstract

Utilizing the seasonal, kids' toys of Spring, these puzzle feeders [attached with a chain on the outside of the cage] are made out of plastic baseballs found at your local discount stores. They are VERY inexpensive (2 for $.97!), easy to make, and our baboons love to work at retrieving the food treats within - as well as bat them around to make noise. .. I recommend not leaving the device on the cage overnight. Also, I recommend using a bottle brush to help clean the item. .. Great for singly housed primates but also terrific for paired and/or large social groups. If used with pairs or greater, implement multiple enrichment devices so it can't be monopolized by just one individual.
