Brown, C. S., Loskutoff, N. M.

Abstract

A training program for voluntary semen collection [and cursory physical examination] in a bachelor group of [three] western lowland gorillas is described. Training was based on shaping behavioral responses with positive reinforcement using verbal and food rewards. The first manually collected semen sample was obtained 5-14 months after the start of the training.
